This week’s picks. New and improved!

It was another rough week for me last week as all my picks disappointed me once again. For the year, I’m 1-7-0 with my picks, meaning if I actually put money on this, I’d be broke and joining the  Occupy Wall Street movement.
I realize reading my terrible picks each week might get old, so I did something different this week.

You might be asking: This picking games cannot be that hard. A dog could probably do better than this idiot.
Challenge accepted.

This week, it’s me vs. the dog. I picked four games for Hartley to pick, pritned out the school logos, put a treat on each logo and watched which one he picked. Let’s see who wins this week …
Here are my picks first:

Bet the farm on …

Clemson (-10.5) over North Carolina
I’ve bet against Clemson once this year and lost big. No more. I trust the Tigers and even moreso I don’t trust the Tar Heels. This should be a double digit win.

31-14 Clemson

Bet the tractor on …

Virginia Tech (-21) over Boston College
This pick is more against Boston College that for Virginia Tech, but I like the Hokies in this one. BC is miserably terrible, and while the Hokies screwed me once this year already, I’m going to try them one more time.

45-10 Va. Tech

Bet the cow on …

Colorado (+31.5) over Orgeon
Oregon will win this game easily, but without LaMichael James, it will not be a blow out like the books have it. A late Colorado touchdown will put the Buffalos within the spread.

49-21 Oregon

Bet the pig on …

Auburn (+21) over LSU
Again, I think LSU will win this one by a lot, but a late touchdown will put Auburn inside the spread. Without the 3 suspended LSU players, I have some faith in Auburn, but I’ve been wrong before on this.

35-24 LSU

And now for Hartley’s picks

Auburn vs. LSU

Hartley takes Auburn and the 21 points in the matchup of Tigers. Same pick as me, so at least I won’t be completely blown out by the dog.

Florida State vs. Maryland

Hartley taking the Terps and the (+18) line in the battle of disappointing ACC teams.

USC vs. Notre Dame

Hartley obviously isn’t a Catholic as he chooses USC and the +9.5 line over the Irish.

Oklahoma St. vs. Missouri

Hartley remains loyal to the SEC, even the non-confirmed members of the SEC, and is taking the Tigers and the 7.5 points to cover.

For the record, Hartley has picked the underdogs in each game. Seems about right for him. Not let’s see how we do …

Brian’s Bets of Champions

Things are tough on Brian’s farm. I don’t even own a farm after getting demolished two weeks ago. All I ended with are two cows, one of which I had to use in this week’s bets. So here’s hoping for a better performance than two week’s ago…

Bet the filet on …

South Carolina (-3) over Mississippi State
I’m going to give Miss St. the points here. Without the 24-hour drunk Stephen Garcia on the team, the Gamecocks should actually be able to score points this week. It helps when your quarterback doesn’t see three of everything when he’s trying to complete a pass.
USC 34, Miss St 24

Bet the prime rib on …

Georgia Tech (-7 1/2) over Virginia
If there’s one thing Georgia Tech can do, it’s score points. A lot of points.
While I admittedly haven’t seen a lot of Virginia this year, I have seen Georgia Tech and I believe in its offense to put up points. Can Virginia match them? No
Georgia Tech 49, Virginia 17

Bet the hamburger on …

Tennessee (+18 1/2) over LSU
Let me say that Tennessee will not beat LSU. It won’t be close, but the Tigers will not win by more than 18 points.
Three of the past 4 meetings between the two teams have been decided by touchdowns with less than a minute left in the game.
LSU will lead big, but Tennessee will score a late TD to cover the spread.
LSU 38, Tenn 21

Bet the milk on …

Stanford (-21 1/2) over Washington State
It’s at Washington State, which gives me some concern, but the 2 games I’m seen of Stanford leads me to believe they can score fast and consistently.
It’s a lot of points I’m giving to the Cougars, but I have to take the Cardinal in a lopsided victory.
Stanford 59, Washington St 20

The results (warning: graphic inside)

Things are sad at Brian's farm after Virginia Tech, Mississippi State and LSU broke my heart. E-I-E-O

In case you were wondering if you should ever trust me with my colege football bets, then Saturday should prove that I have no idea what I’m talking about.
Things are sad at Brian’s farm. Or, well, I guess not even a farm anymore since I lost the farm on my Virginia Tech/Clemson pick. I guess all I have now is some infertile land.
I also lost a pig when LSU gave up the late touchdown to Kentucky to win by 28 points and failing to cover the spread. My tractor is also gone thanks to a terrible performance by Mississippi State against Georgia.
The only solace is I still have my cow, make that 2 cows since I won. So for this week, me and my cows will eat on steaks and drink milk while I hope to reclaim my farm in next week’s betting.
